uttarakhand(history)

In ancient times area now known as Uttarakhand was the place of 'hrishi, muni & yogis'for their yoga,dhyan (meditation)& tapasya(ascetic practices).The place has been described as 'Kedarkhand',in ancient Hindu literature the several shastras.
Modern history tells us that the requirement for formation of a separate Himalayan state for development of hill areas and conservation of unique culture and heritage was felt even prior to independence of India.
Nehru' way back in 1938 (5-6th may ) accepted this concept of Himalayan state Uttarakhand.Comrade P.C.JOshi was first to raise demand for Uttarakhand as separate union territory in 1952.The demand turned to an agitation in 1979 with formation of 'Uttarakhand Kranti Dal'

Khurpa-Tal

it's a beautiful lake,located in a village naming same 'Khurpa-Tal',11kms.from Nainital,on Jim Corbet National Park road.
